About Us

ife Compassionate Orphanage Home (Life Compassionate Home for the Less Privileged)

Life Compassionate Orphanage Home (Life Compassionate Home for the Less Privileged) is a registered non-profit charity organization that cares for orphaned, abandoned, and less privileged children. Since 2005, we have served as a safe haven for motherless, fatherless, and vulnerable children, giving them love, shelter, and hope.

This home was founded by Evangelist Goodness Chika, with strong support from her husband, Rev’d Dr. Ogazi Maxwell. She received the vision to care for helpless, hopeless, and abandoned children, especially those without family or support.

We started as Christian Compassionate and Motherless Babies Home and later changed our name to Life Compassionate Orphanage Home (Life Compassionate Home for the Less Privileged) to show our deeper mission. We are fully registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) under:

CAC/IT/No 93912, RC 030361

CAC/IT/No 71292, RC 751537

We are also registered with the Anambra State government under the Director of Women Affairs and Child Development centre, Awka.

We are located at:

Afor-Adike Market Square, beside the Police Station, opposite Recreation Club Hall, Obosi, Idemili North LGA, Anambra State, Nigeria.

Since we began, we have cared for over 100 children, and many of them have been adopted into good homes with help from the Anambra State Government. If you are searching for a trusted orphanage home around us or a motherless babies home near me, we are here to help and serve.

How do we work?

Technology & Innovation
Partnering with Local Communities

Utilizing and adapting technologies familiar to the developed world, we can provide teachers, parents, and students with products and services to improve learning and decision-making.

By nurturing relationships with likeminded organizations and private individuals, we're able to unlock new sources of capital and scale up our work far beyond what traditional funding can do alone.

Shaped by decades of experience within life compassionate and with its educators, we affect change by bringing together real-world solutions, policy expertise, sustainable financing and collaborative partnerships.

Finance & Investing

To make a lasting impact, we know that we must actively engage and include the communities we are seeking to help. We are continually learning and growing in how we show up as an authentic, ethical partner.

Aim

We aim to offer comprehensive love and care for these children which includes quality education, healthcare support/services, emotional support, and a safe haven. This is to empower each child to reach their full potential and become useful to themselves and the society at large.

Vision

Our vision is to raise every child with love, education, and opportunity. We want them to grow into strong, caring, and successful adults who will one day give back to their communities.

We believe that every child deserves a chance, no matter where they come from. With care and support, they can become anything they dream of.

Our Objectives

To support the orphans and the less privileged members of the society. To give hope to the needy and succor to the afflicted by taking care of them, empowering them at their maturity and providing them with material and financial assistance. To promote social and educational development for the needy and orphans. To protect the needy and orphans by providing a safe haven for them and creating a nurturing environment around them. To foster and promote the spirit of love, better understanding and good relationship amongst the inmates and members of the foundation.

MEET THE MATRON OF THE ORPHANAGE HOME

By Evangelist Goodness Chika, Matron – Life Compassionate Orphanage Home (Obosi Motherless Babies’ Home)

My name is Evangelist Goodness Chika. I am a wife to the loving and supportive Rev’d Dr. Ogazi Maxwell, a mother by calling, and the matron of Life Compassionate Orphanage Home, fondly known as Obosi Motherless Babies' Home.

This journey began not just from a desire—but from a deep burden in my heart. I have always loved children. Their laughter, their innocence, their potential. But I could never bear to see a child cry, let alone be abandoned.

I remember vividly the day that changed everything. I saw a heartbreaking news story of a newborn baby thrown into a gutter and left to die. That image broke me. I wept bitterly. In that moment, something awakened in me—a divine calling. I said to myself, "If no one will stand for these children, I will. If no one will wipe their tears, I will."

That decision became the foundation of what is today Life Compassionate Orphanage Home. Together with my husband, we registered the orphanage with the Anambra State Government. We didn’t have much, but we had faith, we had love, and we had a purpose. One child after another, we began rescuing, nurturing, and giving these precious lives a second chance.

In the early days, it wasn’t easy. I remember one Children’s Day celebration in 2005—we were reaching out for help to feed the children and keep things running. Instead of support, we faced mockery. People said terrible things: “Why are you suffering for children that are not yours?” Others accused us falsely, trying to destroy what we were building. But I held on. I kept going.

There were nights I cried myself to sleep, not knowing how we would feed the children the next day. I am a tailor by profession, and at that time, the little I earned was what I used to feed the children. We had no major donors, no government support—just faith and love. But God was faithful. He saw our sacrifices and began to open doors. Gradually, people began to see our hearts and began to support.

The challenges were many—feeding, schooling, medical care, clothing, emotional care. We also had to educate the community about what we were doing. In the beginning, some townspeople misunderstood us. A woman raising other people’s children? It was strange to them. But we sought the wisdom of the land—we met the traditional ruler, explained our mission, and he gave us his blessing. That changed everything.

Finding trustworthy staff who truly had the interest of the children at heart was another challenge. But we stayed focused. We built a home, not just a shelter. A family, not just an institution. We raised the children with values, morals, and most importantly, with love. Because I believe: “Children are the leaders of tomorrow. If we treat them right today, they will lead us right tomorrow.”

Over time, God sent people our way—volunteers, donors, supporters—especially from within Nigeria. Though the beginning was tough, today we are surrounded by people who believe in this mission. Through radio programs, word of mouth, and social media, we invite people to volunteer and support. Nigerians have been truly encouraging.

We do not take any support for granted. We say thank you with all our hearts. We pray for our volunteers and sometimes host prayer sessions just to lift them up. We recognize our donors on our platforms, send appreciation letters, and sometimes organize small ceremonies of gratitude—because kindness must never go unacknowledged.

What keeps me going? Love. Pure and undiluted love for children. I have made a covenant with God: “As long as I am alive, no child in my care will suffer.” I want to see every child rise, fulfill purpose, and become someone great in life. That’s my dream. That’s my reward.

Since we began in 2005, we’ve received thousands of visitors—families, organizations, schools, churches, and individuals—people from all walks of life who have come to touch the lives of these children. We’ve lost count, but every face, every visit, every kind gesture is etched in our hearts.

This journey is not about me. It’s about the children. It's about giving hope where there was none, and light where darkness once ruled. And with God by our side and compassionate people like you, we will keep moving—one child, one story, one miracle at a time.
